My aspiration is to become a doctoral-level IO psychologist. In addition to the core psychology classes (100A & B), here are some of the classes that I took at UCLA that are related to Social Psychology and/or classes that prepared me for Graduate School.

Adv. Statistical Methods in Psychology Honors

PSYCH 142 Honors

Learned foundational knowledge in statistical methods critical to psychological research, focusing on analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multiple regression. Through hands-on experience with statistical software like SPSS and Jamovi, I learned to apply these techniques to analyze psychological data and interpret research findings.

Gerontology Independent Study

GERO 199

I worked with Professor Lené Levy-Storms, an expert in social support and communication in caregiving, to analyze data for my Independent Research Project on caregiving students. With her guidance, I gained practical experience in data analysis using Excel and Taguette, crafted a research abstract, and presented my project at Undergraduate Research Week, earning the Dean’s Prize for Excellence in Research and Creativity. This experience deepened my understanding of social support dynamics—an area that directly informs my interest in IO psychology research on workplace support and work-life balance.

Specialized Writing: Business and Social Policy

ENGL COMP 131B

Gained valuable skills in persuasive business communication, negotiation theory, and audience-centered writing, all essential for developing clear, research-based arguments and effectively conveying ideas in organizational settings. Additionally, I learned to identify competing viewpoints, tailor messages to different stakeholders, and present data visually, which aligns closely with key competencies in IO psychology.

Seminar for Psychological Science Scholars

PSYCH 188A

Developed essential academic and professional skills for disseminating research, including writing conference abstracts, designing scientific posters, and delivering presentations. Through hands-on practice, I strengthened my ability to communicate complex findings in accessible terms, culminating in winning the Dean's Prize for Excellence in Research and Creativity for my presentation during Undergraduate Research Week.

Organizational Psychology

PSYCH 168

Gained an understanding of organizational psychology principles, exploring how individual and group behaviors, diversity, motivation, and leadership skills impact organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. Through hands-on activities and reflection, I applied theoretical concepts to real-world experiences, enhancing my insight into factors that drive performance and adaptability in organizational settings.

Specialized Writing: Law & Politics

ENGL COMP 131

This course equipped me with critical reasoning and advanced writing skills, enabling me to analyze case law, craft persuasive legal documents, and adapt my writing to different audiences and contexts. By developing clear, strategic communication and teamwork skills, I gained the ability to objectively present opposing viewpoints, enhancing my capacity to navigate complex issues—skills that are highly applicable to IO psychology, especially in areas such as policy analysis, organizational communication, and conflict resolution.

Health Psychology Honors

PSYCH 150, 189 Honors

Psychological perspective in the areas of health, illness, treatment, and delivery of treatment. Developed skills necessary in graduate school doctoral programs, such as critical thinking, public speaking and discussion, and hypothesis generation that are based on Health Psychology empirical papers.

Adolescent Psychology Honors

PSYCH 133A, 189 Honors

Covers research on physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development during the second decade of life. This class prepared me through public speaking on how to effectively "translate" empirical evidence to applied audiences. 

Digital Writing & Web Literacy

ENGL COMP 130A

Learned to create engaging digital content for websites, blogs, and social media, building skills to communicate ideas in an accessible and interesting way. This experience helped me develop strategies to present research clearly and creatively—a valuable skill for making IO psychology insights more relatable and impactful.

Community Psychology Honors

PSYCH 175, 189 Honors

Application of psychological principles to understanding and solution of community problems. Topics include community development, community mental health problems, drugs, racism, and rehabilitation of prisoners.  This honors seminar class prepared me to annotate my research in APA format effectively.

Culture & Mental Health

PSYCH 129C

Introduction to the study of culture and human behavior in general, culture, and mental health. Emphasis on cultural groups that comprise major U.S. ethnic groups (e.g., African Americans, Latinos/Chicanos, Asian Americans, and American Indians). This class taught me how to be self-reflective about my own biases to be a more effective psychologist.

Psychology of Addiction

PSYCH 162

Survey of topics covering psychological and neurobiological theories of addiction, pharmacological effects of drugs and abuse, etiology, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. This class taught me how to write Manuscript Papers to review Peer-Reviewed Articles.
