Research Poster
This portfolio showcases my journey and accomplishments as an undergraduate researcher, with a focus on my independent research project, "Invisible Scholars: Confronting Barriers to Higher Education for Caregiving Students."

This poster was developed as part of my PSYCH 188A: Seminar for Psychological Science Scholars course at UCLA. This hands-on academic and professional development course is designed for advanced undergraduate researchers to enhance their communication of science and disseminate findings. Through this seminar, I honed my oral, written, and visual presentation skills, which are critical for any new investigator.
Skills learned from this class
-
Oral Communication: Describing research effectively.
-
Writing Skills: Crafting an aims section of a fellowship application and a conference abstract.
-
Visual Design: Creating a poster presentation.
-
Public Speaking: Delivering a brief scientific conference talk.
In this course, each student is concurrently engaged in their own independent research in a psychology research laboratory, through courses like Psych 196A/B or 199. Successfully completing this seminar with a final grade of B or higher earns College Honors credit. I was concurrently enrolled in GERO (Gerontology) 199, which is an independent studies class with my advisor, Dr. Lene Levy-Storms who is Professor of Gerontology/Medicine.

My research project, prepared for presentation at UCLA's Undergraduate Research Week, delves into the challenges faced by caregiving students—an often overlooked demographic in universities. It highlights the unique barriers these students encounter and proposes institutional changes to better support them.
